The Djuke glove features touchscreen-ready index fingers and thumbs, allowing you to text, adjust your settings, or share your latest shot on social media with ease. Whether the finger caps are open or closed, you have full freedom to interact with your devices.

The Milford glove has Conductive PU and the Urbex glove has Conductive Suede on the index and thumb. As well as the removable inner Liner in the Skadi LRS Zipper Mitt has touch-screen ready index and thumbs.

Our Senja Liner has a touch-screen ready index and thumb. With an added wind-resistant Fleece on the back of the hand, and a faux suede patch with a non-slip silicone grip, this Liner is perfect for Light to Mild winter days.

The Powerstretch Pro Liner is touch-screen compatible on the index and thumbs, allowing you to operate your camera's touchscreen and smartphone without ever having to expose your skin. 

Our gloves are water-resistant, not waterproof.

They have a water-resistant polyester twill so they will not get ruined because of the rain, but the seams are not waterproof. If water gets in the cuff off of your jacket, the gloves will get damp and wet.

Our full leather glove, the Hatchet is made with genuine goat leather treated with a durable water repellent protection/coating, as well as our Djuke photography glove has a goat leather water-repellent outer shell.

For Wet & Windy weather, we recommend the Milford Fleece Glove and Shell. The Milford gloves have a waterproof 10K ripstop Shell, with the laminated membrane.

Warmth is a personal matter and humidity, chill factor etc. also plays a role. It also depends on where you would be traveling. I suggest to check out our Warmth Guide here: Warmth Guide

The Markhof Pro V3 is designed to be great Everyday-Use photography gloves for Mild-Mid winter days. Personally, I get cold fast and I wear this model comfortably down to 28F depending on wind etc., but I know of others who have been happy down to 14F.
For 5F I would personally wear the Tinden gloves or the Skadi LRS Zipper Mitt.
The Hatchet gloves would do just as good in these temperatures for me if I needed an extra toughness of the full leather glove. 

The even more cozy option is the Senja Mitt with it's double layer of insulation and it's weatherproof shell. Combined with the Senja Liner you're ready for those long windy winter days or beautiful aurora nights.

Senja Mitt vs Alta Arctic Mitt vs Skadi LRS

If you’re choosing between our heavy-winter mitts, let's break down the differences:

• The Alta Arctic Mitt is an over-mitt built to sit on top of a full five-finger glove like the Markhof or Tinden. It’s all about maximum layering for the harshest conditions.
   
• The Senja Mitt is a standalone mitt designed to pair seamlessly with a liner, such as the Senja Liner. This combo gives you a snug, flexible fit and excellent control when the cold turns fierce.
   
• The Skadi LRS is a complete 2-in-1 system with its own included liner, created for ski-style warmth, mobility, and comfortable all-day winter shooting.

You're interested in adding a Liner for extra warmth, or just for late Autumn or early Spring days. but not sure which to choose? 

Whether you’re layering for warmth or wearing a liner on its own, both options boost comfort and camera control, but they serve slightly different purposes out in the cold.

• Choose the Power Stretch Pro Liner if you’re after a thinner base layer that plays nicely with every Vallerret glove and doubles as a simple stand-alone glove for mild days.
• Choose the Senja Liner when you want a warmer, grippier, wind-resistant liner that feels amazing on its own or under the Senja Mitt when the cold really bites.

UK winters are often cold and damp. If you're heading into the Scottish highlands for long photo sessions, we recommend wearing the Tinden or Hatchet, our warmest five-finger gloves. If you'll be shooting further south, we recommend having a pair of Markhof Pro V3 gloves with a spare liner in case you need extra warmth or The Milford 2-in-1 Fleece and Shell for the mild, wet & windy days.

For trips to northern Norway, we recommend you to bring the Tinden or Hatchet between Nov - February and the  Markhof Pro V3 all other times. 

Being in the far north during winter has its challenges. During winter temperatures range from -2 to -15 with the short daylight and oceanside weather conditions can make it feel even colder. If you tend to run cold, we recommend to wear a liner underneath the Tinden, Hachet, or Markhof Pro V3 as a base layer.

If you're more of a mitten person or you're getting cold more easily, our Senja Mitt in combination with the Senja Liner is a great choice. It's super warm on those cold but beautiful aurora nights yet super versatile with the Senja Liner if the weather turns out to be nicer than expected. 

For Arctic conditions consider adding The Alta Arctic Mitt on top for complete protection against the elements.

Those headed for an Icelandic winter should be prepared to bundle up. While the lowlands of the island tend to be relatively mild for its latitude (0° C), the Highlands tend to average around -10°C with the lower temperatures in the northern part of the island ranging from -25° to -30°C.

For Iceland winters, we recommend our Tinden or Hatchet, our warmest five-fingered gloves, or the Skadi LRS Zipper Mitt for those who prefer a mitt to a glove. 

The even more cozy option is the Senja Mitt with it's double layer of insulation and it's weatherproof shell. Combined with the Senja Liner you're ready for those long windy winter days Iceland will throw at you.

If you are travelling outside of the Winter season or only stay in the lowlands, Markhof Pro V3 might be a better choice.

For those visiting British Columbia, we recommend the Skadi LRS Mitt. This glove performs great in the snow and will keep you warm in the deep winter. This glove provides the ultimate customizability performing as a glove, a mitt or both! A side zipper reveals all four fingers and the FlipTech on the thumb gives you complete control. 

If a five finger glove is your preferred option, this is where the Hatchet and Tinden come in. These are our warmest five-fingered gloves and they are built for cold, snowy conditions. The FlipTech on the fingers overlaps to ensure no snow gets in the glove if you take a spill. They are insulated with Thinsulate Insulation and the goat leather and 2 ply twill on the outside make this glove water and wind resistant. If it get's really nasty out there, you can layer them both up with our Powerstretch Pro Liner for an extra layer of warmth and protection.  

For serious winter chasers, Alaska and the Yukon might be the ultimate winter photography destination. Isolated and remote, these areas provide some of the harshest winter conditions as well as some of the biggest rewards when it comes to winter photography. For these die-hard winter lovers, we recommend our ultimate glove layering system.

We designed the Alta Arctic Mitt as the “glove for your glove.” It’s exactly as it sounds, a large mitt that goes over your normal photography glove. It adds the ultimate protection against the elements. When you need to operate your camera or use your hands, simply take off the gloves and drop them behind your back on the included harness or keep them on and unzip the Mitt to reveal your base glove.

For your bottom glove, we recommend the Hatchet / Tinden or the Markhof Pro V3, based on how cold you run and your personal temperature preference. For extra warmth, go with the Hatchets/Tindens. If you prefer a slimmer fitting glove, we recommend the Markhof Pro V3. Both will be a great fit under the Alta.

Despite being one of the coldest places on Earth, Antarctica requires only a modest glove since visitors usually only visit in the summer months. During the summer, the days are long and the sun is plentiful and temperatures typically hover around 0°-2°C. For this reason, we recommend the Markhof Pro V3. This is our most popular glove and performs both in the city and the mountain. For extra cold days, you can pair it with the Power Stretch Pro Liner to get a few more degrees of warmth.

You'll need more protection if your expedition is heading further south and inland, with temperatures between –5°C and –24°C, where conditions can feel even more extreme with wind and exposure. If you already have a pair of Markhof Pro V3 or similar, just add our expedition-ready Alta Arctic Mitt  and you’ll be well-equipped to stay warm even in these harsher environments. If you don't have any gloves so far, the Senja Mitt & Senja Liner combination is a great fit to battle those Antarctic conditions. Thanks to their ultra-warm yet low-bulk build, they are letting you shoot comfortably with fingertip control when needed and instantly slip into full mitt warmth when the polar wind bites.

The FlipTech on the thumb allows you to have complete dexterity.

The Markhof Pro V3 glove is our "take everywhere glove", for Mild Winter conditions. The Markhof is a great choice for a 5-fingered glove, with Merino Wool lining and Thinsulate Insulation. The FlipTech caps and magnets of the index fingers and thumbs to allow easy camera access.

We advise you to wear the same size liner as a glove. (E.g. a medium Tinden Photography Glove with a medium-sized liner).

Exception #1: If you are at the very end of the ratio size in the sizing chart, e.g. 1 mm from being a size Large, then we advise going up a glove size if you plan to often wear the liner with the gloves. 

Exception #2: If your personal preference is to wear fairly loose gloves, then you should also go up a size when adding a liner. 

Make sure that liners fit snuggly on your hands especially for the best performance of the FlipTech when wearing both liners and gloves together.

The level of layering your body is important so you can stay out there longer getting the best shots.

If you're not wearing enough clothes, the body takes all the blood away from your hands to keep your core warm, which leads to cold hands. We recommend having enough layers around your core to keep warm from top to toe.

It's also important to note the activity level, if you are walking you will have more warmth than if you are just standing in one place. You can check out our Warmth Guide.

The Merino Wool we use comes from certified mulesing-free farms in Australia.
We do not work with suppliers who practice mulesing, making our wool cruelty-free.

We use DWR genuine goats leather in some of our gloves.

All of our gloves are manufactured in Indonesia. The goat leather we use is locally sourced from Indonesia.

We don't currently have any vegan leather options. We are considering this as an option in the future.
For a non-leather option, we offer the Milford Fleece glove.

Unfortunately we will not be restocking the Olive Green color of the Markhof glove, or the Green color Skadi LRS Zipper Mitt, or the Natural Tan color version of the Hatchet glove.

The color versions are limited edition colors which will not be reproduced.
We hope to have more color options available for future glove designs.

To ensure your Vallerret Photography Gloves remain in top shape for many winter seasons to come, it’s important to care for them properly. Whether made from goat leather or high-performance synthetics, here’s everything you need to know about looking after your gloves.

Quick Do's and Don’ts

• Do: Wash with damp cloth and mild detergent.
• Don’t: Machine wash, tumble dry, or wring out gloves.
• Do: Condition leather occasionally to prevent it from drying out.

• Do: Air dry gloves naturally, away from direct heat.

Most of our gloves have 100 % merino wool lining, and the wool may shrink or twist during wash if not delicately handled, so please don't take any chances here.

The Power Stretch Pro Liners are machine-washable but we recommend washing them at low temperatures, or hand-washing, and avoiding tumble driers.
