“Have you considered making your gloves for photographers in black?”

As we designed and prototyped gloves for photographers this past year, there were many designs and conversations over color, materials, trimmings, and print, some of which were defined by  creativity and aesthetics, but most with functionality in mind back by the photographers out there using the gloves every opportunity. The decision to produce our original Black softshell glove was formed after chats with multiple snowboard photographers who brought our attention to staying camouflaged. Camouflaged perhaps isn’t the best description but at least inconspicuous, just in case you were caught in someone’s frame whilst out on a snowboard shoot. The white print and pattern was then our opportunity to add flare.

Kickstarter; An almighty Design Tool

What we have learned from our kickstarter campaign has been outstanding. If you are unfamiliar Kickstarter, it is a crowdsourcing platform where essentially we can pre-sell our glove, gain feedback and funding to go and produce our photography gloves how you, the epic photographer want’s it.

This was not possible 5 years ago, so, fair to say it has been a revelation for us in bringing to market our prized handwear.

The communication through this platform is sensational. I just described kickstarter as a place where a crowd can provide funding but its more like a place products go to get validated and adjusted by those that want them, our gloves for photographers were no different. Comments like “would you consider toning down the white” and “awesome glove, can it be a little less bright?” were answered with “yes, we can. Let’s just make two!” We are proud to say that our 15/16 Vallerret photography gloves are on the way, available in both black and white print. We had a super successful kickstarter campaign, but the design and communication doesn’t need to stop there. If you have any comments or suggestions on our photography gloves the please leave a comment or send us an email.

Cheers, chat soon.
