It was the middle of winter in 2013 and Vallerret founders Stine and Carl had found themselves in the harsh and unforgiving Alaskan frontier, navigating the ins and outs of Alaska’s famous dog mushing. Soaring mountains, pristine rivers, abundant wildlife and infinite miles of snow. They were surrounded by some of the most impressive beauty on the planet and as they stood amongst the grandiose wilderness, they felt two things: 1) the complete and utter shock that such places exist and 2) the need to ensure others could enjoy it just as much.

From the beginning, founders Stine and Carl's love for ensuring others can enjoy winter has driven every product and every decision made at Vallerret. The idea was simple. They wanted to keep hands warm so others could fully enjoy winter’s beauty. They wanted to make a lasting impact.

At Vallerret our mission is to help photographers overcome the challenges of Winter Photography. In doing so, we produce gloves made for endurance with high performance materials to help photographers thrive even in the harshest winter conditions.

We strive to make the best choices for the environment in production, but any way you look at it, production creates pollution. We are very aware of that which is why we have committed to offsetting our footprint and continue to explore ways to do better.

We are far from perfect and while we know there is a lot of work to be done, we are excited to be taking the steps to conduct responsible, sustainable business and give back.

As part of our goal to be better, we are proud to announce our partnership with 1% for the Planet, an organization we have admired for years. Started in 2002 by Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard and Craig Mathews (founder of Blue Ribbon Riles), 1% for the Planet is a global organization that connects dollars and doers to accelerate smart environmental giving. They have created an alliance of businesses who recognize the severity of protecting the environment and who are dedicated to taking responsibility.

Starting now, Vallerret Photography Gloves is committed to giving one percent of our annual revenue to environmental nonprofits to help mitigate the effects our business has on the environment. Now, when you buy Vallerret Photography Gloves, you can rest assured you’re buying a product that gives back.

We know we are far from perfect and while we certainly have a long way to go, we are excited to be taking this step towards becoming a more sustainable business.
