The Senja System: Winter’s New Power Couple

The Senja System: Winter’s New Power Couple

Two gloves. One system.

There’s something about a mitt and liner combo that just works. It’s that sweet spot between warmth and control.

Over the years, we’ve noticed that many of you were pairing our Alta Arctic Mitt with the Power Stretch Pro Liner, and we got curious. You were onto something great, but it wasn’t a perfect match. The Arctic Mitt was built as an over-glove for a full five-finger glove, not a liner. Still, you made it work, and we loved that.

We decided to build a mitt and liner designed to belong together. Not just compatible, but purpose-built for each other. A seamless system made for real winter shooting.

That’s how the Senja System came to life.

The Senja Liner

Think of the Senja Liner as your reliable everyday layer: light, warm, and functional on its own, yet the perfect partner for deep winter when paired with the Senja Mitt.

We crafted it with Polartec® Power Stretch® Pro™ on the palm for warmth and dexterity, and Singtex® StormFleece™ on the back to block wind and repel water. A suede palm patch, non-slip silicone grip, and touchscreen-ready fingertips make it a glove that feels just right, whether you’re shooting in the cold or layering up for harsher weather.

The Senja Mitt

Built taking notes from our Alta Arctic Mitt but redesigned with a sleeker fit and a waterproof membrane, the Senja Mitt is made to work with a liner, not over another glove.

We refined the insulation and cut for better mobility, kept the FlipTech thumb caps and zipper opening for quick access, and added magnetic fixtures to hold them neatly in place while you shoot. The storm leash, fleece lining, and over-cuff design seal the deal for reliable warmth and protection.

The result is a mitt that feels more natural, less bulky, and perfectly tuned to perform with its matching liner.

Why the Senja System Works

No two winter days are the same. Some are mild and magical, others are bone-freezing and brutal. The Senja System lets you adjust your setup to match the conditions so you can stay comfortable and focused on your shot.

  • Liner only → for milder days and active shooting.

  • Mitt only → for quick missions in deep cold.

  • Mitt + Liner → for full-on winter adventures when the temperature really drops.

Two gloves. One system. Built to keep you creating, no matter what winter throws your way.

Senja Mitt vs. Alta Arctic: What’s the Difference?

If you’re wondering which one’s right for you, here’s the quick breakdown:

  • The Alta Arctic Mitt is an over-glove designed to fit on top of a full five-finger glove like the Markhof or Tinden.

  • The Senja Mitt is a standalone mitt that pairs with a liner glove, such as the Senja Liner, for a snug, flexible fit and better control.

In short, if you love the mitt and liner combo, the Senja setup is what you’ve been waiting for.

Final thoughts from the Design Team

Creating the Senja System has been one of those moments that remind us why we started Vallerret in the first place — solving real problems for creators who live for winter.

We’ve tested this combo in snowstorms, frozen forests, and quiet mountain sunrises, and every time, it’s felt like a glove system that just makes sense.

We’re beyond excited to finally bring this combo to life - a setup we’ve been dreaming about for seasons!
