TUESDAY SHOOTER TIPS:
FROM LANDSCAPES TO RICHES

Shoot more landscapes! Then CASH-IN those skills during winter to tell an epic story of your rider in action.”

It’s all about telling the story and providing the viewer with a window to what you are seeing. By including more landscape in your ski and snowboard photography you can portray the epicness and grandeur of the action in all its glory.
Getting better at landscape photography or to be more precise, looking at the landscape in terms of composition, line and form is going to give your ski and snowboard photography the x-factor.

With summer sharing its’ warmth and long days, it’s the perfect opportunity to go on a mission and shoot landscapes. If you’re not inclined to shoot landscapes normally, then this will benefit you the most.

A couple pointers for starting to shoot landscapes

  • use a medium to high aperture f8 – f18 in order to keep the scene in focus.
  • Include a good foreground element and utilize the rule of thirds.
  • May need to blend exposures to compensate for high dynamic range between the sky and landscape.
  • Pay attention to perspective lines, forms and shapes in order to create exciting compositions.
