For years now I have chased the Winter. I love the crispness of the cold, the freshness on your face – and most of all the epic things you can do when you are surrounded by snow. Whether it’s snowboarding, mushing Alaskan huskies or toboganning down ski slopes… there’s just something about Winter.

A few years ago, I picked up a great camera and everything changed from that day. Now it’s all about angles, talking about the best shot of the day, finding great light and spotting compositions. It’s awesome to let your creative juices run free and brainstorm with other enthusiasts. I’ve spend so many nights up until dawn just waiting for the northern lights to beam in greens and countless hours in front of kickers in the park, “Just one more, then I got it!”.

Photography to me is a free creative space and an extra motivation to get out there and make awesome things happen. In many ways I find that photography paves the way to new experiences more than it solely ads on to what’s already happening. My camera gets me out more and keeps me searching for alternative ways. And on top of that, nothing beats the satisfaction of getting that crisp shot just right – boom!

The only thing that has bothered me with taking photos in Winter is the numb cold hands, brrrr…

And the search for photography gloves began…

I found that the cold made me cut my sessions shorter than I really wanted and I settled for a shot that wasn’t really what I was after. I searched for photography gloves online and in shops but I couldn’t find that funky and functional “pipe glove” I was after. I found huge Arctic mittens or weird looking hunting gloves. I compromised and bought me some “sweet looking” hunting gloves, but the poor quality and far-from-stylish design just left me irritated.

The rise of Vallerret Photography Gloves

A year ago Carl and I started talking about making some photography gloves that would actually look cool and be functional at the same time. We wanted that glove for ourselves and we wanted it now. Maybe others would want it too?

We brainstormed for months about design, materials, what makes a great photography glove, manufacturers, distribution channels etc. – and we decided to go for it! The last year has been a business adventure full of learnings. Our first glove edition is coming Winter 2015 and we couldn’t be more excited to present it to you.

Photography is about making things happen. We hope you like our gloves. But more important, we hope you go out and do something with them.

Enjoy!
