In a previous TST, we mentioned that learning a new skill like taking portraits would tremendously enhance your ski and snowboard photography. Rickard takes it to the next level providing you a tip to improve your portrait photography without any new gear, any additional costs and just a simple adjustment.

Using natural light will produce awesome results and instantly improve your portrait photography. All it takes is one easy adjustment, place your subject in the correct lighting location.
Utilizing the natural light for maximum effect requires you look for an entrance to a darker room. For instance a tunnel, temple or entrance door. Place your subject just at the entrance, just at the point where no direct sunlight hits his/her face but they still get illuminated by the outside light. This gives a soft light on your subjects skin, removes the harsh shadows and creates nice bright reflections in your subjects eyes.
Use a wide aperture and make sure the focus is tack sharp on the eyes.
