I ordered my gloves at around 11pm at night. The following day they arrived in the mail at 2pm. That's 15 hours from payment to receiving the package?!♥♥
I tested them quickly and they do seem kind of "bulky and restricts movement" like the other review says. I think if you wear them, over time they will become
more flexible. I'm certainly keeping them. I chose size XS and my hand measures 17,5 x 16,5 cm, so it's the maximum allowed size for XS. If your hands are
even 1mm bigger than mine, go for size S. Trust me on that.
The magnets are seriously strong. Even with all the layers of fabric, they won't separate on their own. The compartment on the top of each hand is about the
size of a CF card. I don't personally carry cards with me because I rarely run out of space, but I can fit an extra pair of foam earbuds in there. In case I lose one.
I'll test these out in a couple days. It will be around 8 degrees and I'll be outside for an entire day. Will update the review with pictures if that's possible.
This is the best glove I think I've ever seen especially for photography but also works great for using my phone and texting. The gloves are warm and water resistant, so I can take pictures in winter cold a whole day comfortably. There is removable finger tips with little magnets to hold them back, work reasonably well and allow full control for my camera and the fingers and palm have excellent grip. These gloves are exactly what I expected from a long time ago, even better than I expected. I highly recommended these gloves for anyone especially for photography or for daily use in cold environment.
I had high hopes for these gloves to be the answer to my winter photography needs. Alas, they are bulky, restrict hand movement, and nearly impossible to manipulate the camera controls while wearing them, even with the flipped fingers open. I haven't had a chance to test them for warmth yet, but it almost doesn't matter if I can't use them for photography. Unfortunately, Vallerret charged a fortune in shipping to send them to me in Canada (and I was charged taxes, duties and customs fees on top of this) and they would charge me to return ship them at my own expense, meaning even if I wanted to send them back for a refund, I'd be out nearly a hundred bucks. Worst decision I ever made. Don't be fooled.
Wore these in New Zealand in April, including before dawn and after dusk outings in wind, rain and some light snow. Used them in temperatures down to just below 0 deg Celsius. Very warm and not over-bulky. The palms grip incredibly well on icy handrails (eg the swing bridges over the Hooker Valley) which was excellent. Be aware that if you use them on the beach though that sand will also stick to the palms, so you need to keep brushing it off before handling anything like lenses or filters. Overall very practical gloves. I usually wear a men's medium glove as I have slightly longer fingers and wider palm, but the women's large fits quite well, snug and without excess length in the fingertips. The flip top fingertips work very well for camera handling and fishing things out of bags or pockets. Highly recommended.
Not tried in anger yet but they are so comfortable and quite the best I have seen. I have also bought the liner.
Wish I had found them sooner.
